New Years Eve Eve!

We had a nice active day today!  We went shopping looking for skates for myself the took the girls skating!  Doesn't sound too labour intensive, but with two toddlers that insist on being carried all over the mall then hauled into and out of the minivan 6 times, it's quite a workout!

Hockey skates because they're more supportive on my bum ankle!  I got pretty pink laces that clash with my red coat!  Oh well!

I did find skates and we went and strapped them on to take Lara out for the very first time on her little "bob skates"!  We had a great time!  I haven't been skating since I was a teenager and I was a little unsure on my feet, but I didn't fall!  It actually felt great to be out there!  Hubby and I vowed we would go skating one night, just the two of us to shake the dust off!

Lara was a little natural!  I think her small frame is made for figure skating.  It's a sport where her small stature would be an advantage!  She said a couple of times "This is fun!  I'm not scared Mama!"  She even ventured out on her own a couple of times in the circle!

We had such a great time!

Tom looks like a giant beside Lara!

Zaryah was VERY jealous standing behind the boards so we brought her out for a turn around too!  Thank goodness bob skates are cheap!  Looks like we'll need a second pair!

So I have a confession to make... I've kinda been purposefully sabotaging myself the past few days.  The home scale has been dropping quite a bit and I'm only a pound or so away from getting the 75 pound medal at my weight watchers meeting.  I really don't want to get it while I'm just at the weigh in center!!!  So I've been trying to keep my weight the same so I can have a big loss and earn my medal in my home meeting the first meeting back after the holidays!  I choked down seriously drooled over enjoyed fish and chips at lunch today!  I even made my fries a poutine!  (For you non-Canadians that's fries smothered in cheese curds and gravy, so good!).  The problem with this...  Halfway through skating I had THE WORST gut cramps!  And it was all I could do to hold it in until I got home and to the bathroom!  I ended up in that state 4 or 5 times this afternoon!  So all was probably for naught.  So if I lose enough and earn the medal, I'll just refuse it and ask for it at my meeting on the 8th.  I don't know why I didn't think of that a week ago!  Lol!  Oh well!  I enjoyed my vacation!

I'm back full swing into lose it mode!

I did my best at keeping things healthy over the past week, but did indulge quite a bit too.  We had a date night on Saturday night last week and went to our local pub to see friends play a gig.  I had pub food twice that day and a few drinks.  As you can see on my weight tracker below on the 22nd to 23rd.  I certainly enjoyed myself!  Sunday and monday the 23rd and 24th I was back on plan but didn't track.

All bets were off of course on the 25th and 26th.  I think I had half a pound of bacon Christmas morning and ate so much at my mother in laws that I couldn't sit down for fear my gut would split open!  I was marginally better on the 26th, lol!

By thursday the 27th I was ready to get back on plan and did a pretty good job until we ended up at Wendy's for dinner.  I had a bacon deluxe and fries.  I so rarely get to Wendy's and they have my favorite burgers, so I had to have it!  Yesterday had a bit of trouble totally kicking the treats to the curb!  I did well but had a mid afternoon treat, a lot of Shortbread, 3 Ferrero Rochers and a Toffifee later and I think I'm done!

This week was so insanely busy.  I'd intended on blogging daily again as of Thursday but it just didn't happen.  My pelvis and right leg are giving me a lot of fuss for not resting and that isn't helping the situation at all.  Thankfully I'm now on vacation and have the next 9 days to relax!

I got gift cards for clothing stores from everyone who gave me a gift this year, lol!  I guess I need new clothes!  Everything I have is from the thrift store.  I think I'm going to hold onto the gift cards though until I lose a bit more.  Remember my last time shopping for clothes?  Didn't go so well!  I think I'll go back to the thrift store soon and see if I can spend my VISA gift card there.  I do need new bras too.  I used to get those at the plus size store, but I'm now too small for their smallest chest size.  So I'm going to have to look around a bit for those...

Everywhere I turned  I was getting "Holy cow you look fantastic!"  I felt like a million bucks the whole time!  Obviously I've changed quite a bit since last Christmas, I've lost 60 pounds since then and the majority of Tom's family hasn't seen me since last Christmas, so I was expecting they'd notice, but it still felt amazing to get all of the compliments!

I didn't get any good pics of me on Christmas, I was the one holding the camera!!!  So here's as good a comparison as I can get!

 Last year at 233 lbs
This year at 173 lbs!

Oatmeal
12 almonds

A dieting foodie at Christmas? Is this fair???

I'm hemming and hawing about not tracking and indulging a little bit through the holidays.  Part of me thinks I need to avoid everything and try to lose as much as I can over the holidays, the other part of me thinks I need to loosen up a little.  I've lost 80 pounds and I'm not going to gain that all back in the next week.  If I gain a little, is it really a big deal?

My mood is starting to turn with all of the avoiding I've been doing and I'm not sure I've been doing the right thing.

I haven't had ANYTHING Christmas 'junk' related yet this season.  And I'm starting to be bothered by it.  Today we had our Christmas party at work.  We ordered in from Swiss Chalet (A popular rotisserie chicken restaurant in Canada) and I had a chicken breast and a salad.  I didn't get the "festive special" that everyone else had, no stuffing, no roll, no chocolate truffles, honestly I felt left out, like I was missing something.  I vowed at the beginning of this journey that I would never let myself feel deprived!

I'm thinking about turning in the tracker until Thursday next week, eat normally (healthy) most of the time, but still enjoy a few alcoholic beverages, some home made shortbread, gravy on my mashed potatoes, you know, enjoy Christmas.  Once boxing day is over life will return to normal here.  Can Christmas still be about the food?  I'm a bit down at the prospect of never being able to truly be the foodie again over the holidays!  Is it possible to balance healthy eating and common indulgences over the holidays?  Why, all of the sudden, am I doing the all or nothing thinking?  Haven't I always preached about not denying myself of anything?  All in moderation right?

Am I crazy?  Am I going to regret this decision in a week?  Is it going to derail me and I'll gain all the weight back because I never got back on the wagon?

In all likelyhood, I'm going to revert to fresh fruit, pile my plate high with veggies, eat a few sweets then be too full to pig out, lol!

I think I am going to put away the tracker for a few days and take the pressure off of myself.  After all, I'm NOT 250 pounds anymore and my brain works differently than it did a little over a year ago.  Chances are I'll gain a bit on monday then have lost it all by the 31st.  Cuz that's what I do, lol!

I likely won't be blogging as much over the holidays, but I'll check in here and there.  I PROMISE to get back to my food blogging on the 27th!  You can hold me to that!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Weigh in day

Weigh in was tonight and I'm down 0.8 lbs!  Making it a total of 80.2 pounds lost!!!  I didn't get my 75 pound medal at the meeting tonight, missed it by 0.8 lbs :(  Another girl in our meeting is really close to 50 pounds lost and we both decided that it'll be a great inspiration to all of the post New Years newbies to see some people celebrate big milestones just after joining. :)  Our next meeting isn't until January 7th, because, meeting being on Tuesdays, we'll miss the next two because of where Christmas and new years fall.  I know I'll probably earn the medal on Monday when I weigh in at the centre, but I'm going to hold off getting the medal until I'm at my "home meeting" on the 8th.  That group has helped me get where I am, I want to celebrate with them!

Work is getting absolutely ridiculous!  Only 4 more shifts of patient presents!  Here's only a mere sampling of their generosity!  I've had none of it still by the way!  Although those Reese clusters might break my resolve!  Oh!  Those were given to me by one of my Diabetic patients!  Seriously people!

So I did the unthinkable after weigh in tonight.  I had a Big Mac and fries for dinner!  Gah it was so good!  Now you may think this is a bad excuse for justifying eating it, and maybe it is, but sometimes I find having a big calorie full meal makes me drop a bunch of weight after.  As if it's a re-set.  I was bummed this week for having only lost 0.8 after a 0.2 gain last week and I'VE BEEN SO GOOD!  Not even a toe out of line!  It was actually my hubby that said I needed a reset meal.  He's seen this happen a few times and suggests it when I'm getting down about my losses.  Maybe it's just the "feel-good-ness" (endorphins) of the binge or maybe there really is something to the whole reset the system theory, but either way, it'll probably work and I'll have a good loss next monday!

That all being said, NOTHING is off limits remember?  So there should be no guilt to be had over my dinner tonight, Right? :P

Lack of post yesterday

Sorry for the lack of post yesterday, it's pretty busy around here!  And with sick kids, I didn't even see my macbook yesterday!

Friday night Tom and I went out to a Christmas party/fundraiser.  I got all prettied up, hair trimmed and styled (haven't gone to a hairdresser in 16 months!).  We went out for dinner at Milestones, then ran around looking for something nice for me to wear, I found the shirt at Value Village for 5.99!  I got the shrug for $14 at walmart and the necklace and earrings as well at walmart for $14.  Pants are new too!  Also from walmart for $20, but those I'll wear at least twice a week for work :)  I looked fantastic if I do say so myself!  My hair looked better at the beginning of the night, this was taken at 2am!

The party was fun, I had a couple of drinks but drank water the rest of the night.  There was a huge assortment of food, lots of treats and I didn't have a thing!  I told myself that to enjoy Christmas day, I need to abstain leading up to it.  It's working!  I'm not feeling like I'm missing out either, I KNOW what I'm looking forward to having on Christmas and I'll have earned it by then!

This party was a fundraiser for Food For Life.  A charity that brings nutritious food to hungry people in the area and they had prize tables with all sorts of stuff, we ended up winning a date night!  2 tickets to a local hockey game and $100 gift certificate to a pub!  Sweet!

We got home around 2am and didn't get to sleep until around 3-3:30am.

We were woken up by a call from my sister, Lara was sick.  So off I went to go pick up my little ones.  We spent the morning cuddling, after learning about the tragedy in Connecticut, I was happy to be losing sleep doing just that for my kids!
We did manage to get out as planned and took Tom's Grandma Christmas shopping.  She took us out for brunch at Cora's, my favorite breakfast place!  They give you a TON of fruit in your meal.

This is what I had.  So good!

We managed to get our Christmas shopping done, both kids had naps in the car while I ran from store to store to pick up things.

I've eaten every meal out in the past two days, but have been totally on plan, yes it can be done!  Snacks just didn't happen, but I wasn't that hungry, looks like I'm getting sick too :(

Here's yesterdays food diary

Breakfast

Everything bagel with herb and garlic cream cheese

Brunch

1 poached egg on toast
1 tsp butter
1/2 cup cottage cheese
A boatload of fruit

On the ball

Remember a few weeks ago I made a decision to disclose everything that goes in my mouth on here, to hopefully curb the extra snacks that had snuck into day to day eating.  It's been working!  I've been doing very well this week avoiding the pre Christmas bingeing.  Especially at work!  I've told myself that if I want to enjoy myself on Christmas day and boxing day, I need to restrain myself leading up to it.

I work in a doctors office as a Nurse.  Patients feel obligated to give us Christmas presents and it's usually food!  Baked goods, candies, chocolates of all forms, wine, fruit baskets, coffee and donuts, I even got a gift card for a dinner out!

One of the dozens of gifts!

So of course I'm proud of myself for abstaining!  I haven't even had one jube jube!

Tomorrow we have a Christmas party to go to tomorrow and that will be the real test to my resolve.  We'll see how it goes!

Tonight I'm treating myself to a "planned treat".  My last butterscotch pudding :)

busy day = back pain :(

It's really fricking busy at work right now.  Between every other patient coming in with a cold or flu, everyone else feels the need to visit the doctors (or Nurses) office before Christmas.  It's like they panic when they hear we're going to be closed for two days!

So when it gets busy, I get busy.  Very busy.  And when I have to sit for longer visits my back starts to act up.  My physio's solution is to stand for all of the visit, lol!  Right!  Then my ankle will hurt!  I just can't win!

I'm counting down the days until I get some much needed time off, then hopefully things'll calm down in the new year.

I was alright eating today, dinner was fish and chips, but I weighed it out, only giving myself a reasonable portion points wise.  5 points of fish (battered and fried of course) and 4 points of french fries.  I finished it off with a big salad.  It was the perfect way to do it!  I had a taste, but didn't get the full of fatty food bloat!  Or guilt!

Here's how the rest of the day went.

Breakfast

Oatmeal
12 almonds
a banana

Snack

cheese string
grapes

But baby it's cold outside!

This morning I had to get the girls over to my brothers to be babysat again. It was so cold this morning! I had to get them all bundled up, coat, hat, mitts, the whole nine!  It was a bit of a struggle getting them into the van!  My back has been better, but I aggravated it this morning doing that :(

I need to get a warmer coat for winter, my red wool coat is ok for fall days, but it does nothing to block the wind!  I don't want to spend any money on one though, what's the point?  It'll only be for one season!  Walmart I hear is a good choice, it has to be WARM though because I walk to work often and I don't want that to be a deterrent!

I gained 0.2 lbs at weigh in tonight.  Not a big deal I know, but now I have to lose 1.6 pounds to receive my 75 pound medal at the meeting next week!  I really want that before Christmas and next week is the last weigh in before they're closed for 2 weeks because of which day the holidays fall on!

I had a really busy day at work and am exhausted and sore!  Nightee night!

We've spent the day dreaming about going to Disney!  Hopefully in August/September next year.  It's pretty much the only time Tom will be able to go, between finishing school and when all the EMS services are hiring.  Sometime in there I need to have surgery too, hopefully it'll all work out!

I did some cleaning as well, got the kitchen up to par after 2 weeks of not being able to do much, my back is sore now though...

These girls have got to go!

Now that I have made the decision to have a breast reduction I just can't stand my boobs!  They're too big for my frame (now) and they're saggy and make me feel like a grandma in just about anything I wear!  This Christmas I should be excited about finding something fantastic to wear to parties, but I can't stand shopping because my boobs aren't the size I want them!  I need to find something to wear for a Christmas party next weekend and I'm so dreading shopping for it!  I'm probably going to take a trip to the thrift store and get a few more things.  2 months and 11 days until I meet with the surgeon!
My sister and I went to Ricki's the other day, one of my favourite stores, everything fit in a large, but just didn't look right!  Grandma boobs!  They suck!

A weird thing about losing weight when you're closer to goal.  You change sizes a lot faster!  My go-to pair of jeans are getting loose with the good losses the past 3 weeks.  They fit well 8 pounds ago!  It took me 30 pounds to go down a size at first!  So weird!  Not that I'm complaining, jeans are plenty at the thrift store in the smaller sizes!

We took my mom out shopping, didn't get much, but she took us out for lunch at Tuckers Marketplace!  It's a buffet style restaurant with lots of fresh food, a good salad bar, roasted meats that are carved in front of you and a fantastic dessert bar!
I had to take a picture of Tom with the girls.  They're just so teeny next to his height!  The girls are holding hands too!  They were so good!

I didn't do too badly there, the only treat I had was a few coconut chocolate chip squares.  They're my favourite and I really can't pass them up!  I had 4, 1-inch square pieces.

I didn't have a whole lot in the way of snacks today, we woke up late, then went shopping and had a late lunch.  So a sub-optimal food day, but it could have been a lot worse!

Breakfast

Banana cake (cuz it spoke to me)
Apple

Lunch

baked ham ~ 4 oz
salad with cucumbers, shredded carrot and balsamic dressing
green beans
2 tbsp of scalloped potatoes (I left most of it on the plate, wasn't as good as I'd expected)
grapes, canteloupe, watermelon, banana slices
4 coconut chocolate chip squares

Dinner

Chili
1 piece of bread with 1 tsp butter and 13g of low fat marble cheese
salad
1 tbsp balsamic vinaigrette

A better day

I slept last night!  (The baby slept :P )

I felt a bit better today too, probably the sleep!  I spent a lot of my day on my feet, didn't sit for long periods of time.

I did have a bath tonight after dinner, to help with the pain, as is my old fall back "feel me better" from my pregnant and bad pelvic problem days.  It was a pretty hot bath, and when I was about to get out I felt really dizzy and saw a few stars when I sat up.  I called Tom to help me out of the bath.  I got out slowly and I was alright, a little dizzy and a pounding heading for a few minutes, but I'm feeling ok now.  It might have something to do with the muscle relaxants I've been taking lately...

Dizziness scares me a bit these days.  I get it on and off now that I've lost the weight.  I was investigated for vertigo and my doctor came to the conclusion that it's just low BP.   Which it probably is, but it's a little disconcerting.  I really don't want to pass out and hurt myself!

I almost forgot!  That personal milestone I was going to hit soon?

160's!!!

I don't think I've ever been in the 160's for any length of time in my entire adult life!  And I can barely fathom the next decade I will hit!  Holy Fack!!!!!

A long day...

Well the baby kept me up again, but I couldn't, in good conscience, skip work again.

I've been taking it easy at work and have been using another examination room where I can stand at the computer instead of having to be seated at a desk all day.  My appetite is still not great, but I'm working on getting the good stuff in anyways!

I'm exhausted.  Going to bed!  Hubby is done exams so he'll be getting up with the baby! (right! as if she'll go to anyone else overnight!)

A sick day on the couch and Weight Watchers 360

The baby kept me up for 3.5 hours in the middle of the night last night (she's caught a bit of a bug) and my back was really complaining by the time the morning came!  I called in sick, I really needed to spend the day lying on the couch!  Zaryah was happy to just lay on me and cuddle so we both got some down time in.
This is how we spent a good portion of the afternoon :)

Isn't she cute?

I went to Physio again this evening right before going to Weight Watchers and I'm a little sore from being manipulated!
She had me lay on a heating pad with my legs up in the air on a very high stool, it was actually pretty comfy!  I did notice how skinny my legs are now!  Chicken legs!

I'm distracted from the pain by another great loss!  I was down another 2.4 pounds tonight!  That's 7.4 pounds in the last 3 weeks!  I'm now down a total of 79.6 pounds!

I'm really on my game right now and am 1.4 pounds away from getting my 75 pound medal!  (Remember I started WW's online before attending meetings and lost 6 pounds that "don't count" at the meetings, but I count them, I worked hard to lose them!).  The WW's leader challenged me to get that medal before Christmas so I have 2 weigh in's left!  I'm SO going to do it!

Today at meeting they rolled out the newest version, Weight Watchers 360.  The plan hasn't really changed, they haven't messed with our daily points plus targets or points plus values thank goodness!  They are incorporating how to make certain healthy lifestyle changes routine and making the spaces you spend your time in plan friendly.  Seems useful.  They'll be rolling it out over the next few weeks.

I'm very close to another personal milestone... Hopefully I'll have something to celebrate with you soon!

I wasn't very hungry today...

Physio and the bionic Eva!

My Physiotherapist squeezed me in today when she heard I was in the accident last weekend!  I was told she was totally booked this week but she took pity on me (we go way back :P).  She moved things around so I didn't have to wait another week!  She says she thinks I have a bit of a slipped disc and I did do something to my pelvis again. :(  I'll be seeing her or the massage therapist 3-4 times a week for the next 6, so my lunch hours are totally not my own for a while!  She also gave me a TENS machine, a kind of nerve stimulator/pain reliever and a great new heating pad.  Paid for my the car insurance of course.  I was a little skeptical about the TENS machine, but it really works!  I'm sitting up in bed!  Comfortably!

The TENS machine as per Wikipedia "TENS - Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation is a non-invasive, low-risk nerve stimulation intended to reduce pain, both acute and chronic. "

Pretty neat!  I put the 2 electrodes over my lower pelvis, either side of my spine, the the other two a few inches above that.  It feels like someone is holding an electric toothbrush up to my back and moving it around.  No pain!  Pretty cool!

Baby shower and a busy sunday!

I had a really busy day today!

I got up around 7:30, relaxed for an hour before the kiddies got up.  Then I cut up all of the veggies and fruit for the shower, cleaned the kitchen, wrapped the presents, made brunch for the fam, cleaned the kitchen again, got myself and the kiddies ready to go and over to our friends place!  The cake was a hit!
I did ok foodwise, I did sample the cake though, it was yummy!

We were there for about 3 hours, then came home and decorated the Christmas tree Tom had brought home yesterday.  Our friends little guy wanted to help so eh came over for a couple of hours too.  Our first year with a real tree!

After that I was done!  And so was poor Zaryah!  She just couldn't keep it together and was down before 7:30!  Now hubby and I are relaxing in bed!  Dexter is on tonight!

Saturday with the fam!

The girls and I got up between 8 and 9, woke Daddo at 9:30 and we went and did some Christmas shopping!  I struck one person off my list and got Lara's Birthday present!  Her birthday is in January and we saw a beautiful 4 poster bed at a clearance store and just had to get it!

I managed to get some cooking done, I made up 2 pounds of ground Chicken and 1 pound of ground beef with lots of onions, mushrooms and peppers and made 2 shepherds pies with half of the meat mixture (with cauliflower mashed potatoes), one for dinner tomorrow and one to freeze. I made taco salad topping with the other half.  I love doing up the ground meat like this, the veggies add a lot of volume, a ton of flavour and lowers the points a lot!

Sitting down is definitely still not comfortable.  The drive did me in so I was glad to be in the kitchen cooking!

I also made a cake for a baby shower I'm helping host tomorrow.  I'll post a pic tomorrow!

I'm now tired and hubby is waiting for cuddles :)

Breakfast

One piece of toast
1 tbsp Nutella
Greek yogurt
1/2 a banana
an apple

Lunch

Bacon and egg McMuffin
2 hashbrowns

Dinner

Taco salad
-taco filling
-romaine lettuce
-11 tostitos
-1 ounce low fat shredded marble cheese
-1 tbsp ranch dressing

Not a great day food wise...

Apologies, online shopping, Star Trek and wine!

I'm sorry all I'm talking about lately is how I'm feeling, can't do anything, but it's kind of all consuming and my back problems are getting worse!

I heard from the insurance company today and physiotherapy is getting covered by our car insurance!  The lady was so nice and helpful too!  Thank goodness I haven't had any hassles this week!

I've been starting out the day feeling pretty normal, then progressively get worse as the day goes on.  Siting kind of makes it worse, so I've been spending a lot of time standing up!  Thankfully I've been able to.  I haven't had much headaches today and I think the standing up helps :)

I'm getting into the Christmas spirit and have done some online Christmas shopping today!  We should be getting a few things tomorrow as well hopefully.

Hubby and I are laying in bed now watching Star Trek The Next Generation (Third season) on Netflix.  Brings back so many memories of when I watched it with my Dad!  Hubby brought home a sample bottle of wine from the liquor store (perfectly portioned!) last week and I'm indulging!

My appetite has been dwindling this week with the pain issues, so it's been pretty easy to stay on track!

Breakfast

The usual!
Oatmeal with brown sugar and cinnamon
12 almonds
a banana

Snack

Oikos greek yogurt

Lunch/afternoon snack

Mushroom, red pepper ham and cheese omelette

dinner

Souvlaki pita with lots of veggies

Breast Reduction Update

I called the surgeon's office and got through right away.  Apparently they hadn't received any faxes from my doctor's office! (big surprise, my doctor's awesome, the staff there, not so much).  So the clerk on the phone was super accommodating and I faxed my own referral to her from my office and she got back to me right away.  I see the surgeon February 19th!

This is just one more step to a normal life.  A year ago I could have never even asked for it because I was obese.  By february I should be in the 160's (or lower) and no where near obese!  This is also the doctor who will probably do my skin removal surgery too, so I'm uber excited and motivated now more than ever to keep up the weight loss!

I'm feeling marginally better today, I have a headache still and my back is sore, but I'm a little better able to function.  I've been taking more Advil though, which I was just sort of muddling through without pain meds, and halfway through the day I was thinking of going back to my doctors again for meds, but I'm feeling a little better at the moment.  Yeah that was the large dose of Advil talking, lol!  I made dinner tonight (yeah!) and I'm done, lol!  It's early to bed for me of course, I'm most comfortable lying down.  I broke down and took some Robax Platinum :)

I've been good today again.  Today I've avoided: Pecan butter tarts, coconut tarts, Chocolate covered pretzels, pepermint/white chocolate covered pretzels...

Breakfast

Oatmeal with brown sugar and cinnamon
12 almonds
banana

Snack

pear

Lunch

Egg salad sandwich
1/2 red pepper
1 serving Heluva good dip

Snack

Oikos greek yogurt
Apple

Doctors appointment

I had a doctors appointment this morning for follow up after the accident this weekend. Apparently I did re-injure my pelvis and I have irritated the sciatic nerve on the other side. So she's sending be back to physio to get myself fixed up again.

I have 2 doctors, a husband and wife team and the wife hadn't seen me in a very long time, 4 or 5 months or more! He was so proud of me for losing so much weight and she actually said that she thinks most of my "belly issue" is that it's mostly skin and she thinks I should have skin removal surgery to fix it. My lower belly hangs quite a bit and is uncomfortable. I've obviously been looking into it already, but it was nice for her to be in agreement!

I told her that I hadn't heard from the plastic surgeon about my breast reduction yet and she said she'll look into it for me. She says I should be ready to have surgery by the spring. "Once I lose the last 20 pounds or so" in her words! Sounds funny hearing that since I had 100+ pounds to lose at one point!

So all in all it was a good appointment. I'm feeling a little sheepish going back to physio with another injury, lol! One of the docs I work with said they need to wrap me in bubble wrap so I stop getting hurt!

I was pretty exhausted by the end of the work day today, another headache, which my doctor said is caused by micro tears in my back muscles from the accident as opposed to a concussion (I didn't hit my head anyways). By the time I went home I was so tired all I could do was make the girls some grilled cheese sandwiches and lay down on the couch! Totally didn't make dinner, clean up, nothing!

My mum offered to buy dinner, Swiss Chalet chicken (one of our healthier go-to's) so Tom ordered that while I put the baby to bed. We got some good snuggles in and she actually fell asleep on my lap!

Good day food wise again :)

Weigh in Today

What a good surprise!  I needed it after the events of the past week!  I was down 3.4 pounds tonight!  For a new total of 77.2 pounds lost!  I smoked by my goal of 75 pounds down!  I'm very close to hitting that 75 pounds lost at meetings too!  (Remember I started Weight Watchers online and lost 6 pounds before going to meetings). Only 3.8 pounds until I meet that milestone and get my 75 pound medal!  The leader was teasing me with it at the meeting today!

I also hit 30% body weight lost too!

My back is sore and I need to go to bed to rest my poor body :(  Seems like I'm a little worse off everyday since the accident.  I can still function fine, and I don't really take much more than my usual Celebrex, but I'm in more pain than I usually am and it's just tiring me out!  Good night!

Breakfast

banana

Cheese string

lunch

2 ounces roast beef with a little gravy
3 mini potatoes
apple

Snack

1/4 cup M&M's peanuts

1.5 servings of low fat marble cheese cut thinly
1 pear

Long day at work!

Monday.  Again!  Holy crap how did that happen???

It was a long day for me.  My back isn't so great and sitting at a computer, turning to talk to patients and the constant up and down didn't feel good!  I was persuaded to make an appointment with my own family doctor and will see her Wednesday morning.  I've gotta say, I really have the best job and workplace ever!  I just missed 3 days a week ago because of an illness and my office manager doesn't even think to give me a hassle about more time off!  Mind you, I'm making the time up.

I did pretty well food wise today, I did have a coconut tart that was homemade by one of the girls that I work with and ate it and enjoyed it, then regretted it for a split second when I remembered how I promised full disclosure on this blog!  But I do need to live, AND I AVOIDED HOMEMADE SHORTBREAD.  So I'm still ahead of the game!

So our car is in the shop getting the once over for insurance.  I have to say, our insurance company has been awesome!  They've been really helpful and very willing to help with anything!  Of course, it's not THEIR company that has to pay for anything, lol!  It's obviously the responsibility of the other driver's insurance (who hasn't given us any hassle either!).

Oh I forgot!  before bed last night I had a second rice crispie square! :D

Weigh in is tomorrow!  I'm hoping to (finally) hit that 75 pounds lost milestone!  I'm 1.2 pounds away and it seems like I've been on the cusp forever!  Weight loss really slows down when you gain 2.4 pounds one week!  Geez!  Just recouping that is keeping me on the straight and narrow!!!

Breakfast

My usual
Oatmeal with brown sugar and cinnamon
12 almonds

snack

Banana
cheese string

Lunch

trout
mini potatoes
lots of green beans
apple

Snack

Oikos fat free cherry greek yogurt (I swear it's like icing!  So good!)

3 mini potatoes
An ounce of beef gravy
Caesar salad

Snack

An apple
a snack pack pudding (butterscotch!)

PJ Sunday!

Well, Tom got dressed :P

Spending the day in my PJ's doesn't equate to bumming around the house and eating like a sloth though!  I cleaned up the whole main floor, and folded a crapload of laundry!  With being busy and not at home for the past 5 days (except to sleep) the house needed some TLC!

Food wise I've been doing pretty well!

Coffee

A banana

Made by my husband!

Rainbow trout baked with onions and lemon
4 baby potatoes

Oh what a day!

Man am I glad to be back home and in bed!

Tom and went out again to go Christmas shopping. Not 10 mins from home we got rear ended! I don't know HOW anyone could miss our bright yellow car??? She hit us really hard too! She hit us, sent us forward, then hit us a second time before we came to a stop! I was texting at the time and was totally thrown forward. Hubby was driving and says he's fine. My whole lower back hurts and my old pelvis injury is causing trouble again. I'm sure I'm going to be hurting for the next few days!

We were still able to drive the car, there's barely a scratch on the bumper, however, it feels different to drive, so we called the insurance company and will have the car checked out.

This totally took the wind out of our sails and we didn't get much shopping done.

We had family birthdays today so my diet wasn't amazing...

We did have a healthy lunch and brought fruit to the party, but I did partake in some treats :)

Breakfast

2 eggs over medium
1.5 pieces of ham
1/4 cup hash browns

Christmas shopping and date night!

Tom and I went out shopping today, not because it was Black Friday (apparently in Canada now too), but because babysitters were available! I tell ya, we are NEVER going to do shopping on Black Friday ever again!

We went to the Samko toy warehouse and that wasn't busy, we came out with some sweet deals! The only real Black Friday sale I wanted to attempt was at ricki's. they supposedly had a bunch of stuff in sale, but it wasn't worth making the trip. Tom dropped me off at the mall and went to get our movie tickets, but the parking lot was so busy he told me I had to walk from the mall to the movie theatre because he couldn't get near the mall again for the traffic!

Temptation and determination. Day 3

So my husband had a migraine.

My husband is under my red coat, lol!  He was sleeping on my shoulder.
Pardon the look on my face, I was exhausted!

We spent 7 hours in Emerg, they gave him a cocktail of meds and sent him home to sleep it off!  He slept until noon today and thankfully he woke up as good as new!  He felt so good he even made dinner tonight!

I took this pic yesterday, but couldn't post it for the obvious reason that I was posting from my phone in the Emerg waiting room.

THIS is what faces me at work at Christmas time!  For the record I didn't have any!

Day 1

As I said yesterday, I need a challenge to keep me from mindlessly (or mindfully) eating junk!
And boy has it worked!  Because I avoided popcorn, ju jubes, chocolate, some shortbread toffee bar thingies and I'm sure so much else!

I think this might work for me!  I'm glad yesterday's post spoke to some of you, the next few weeks are going to be the most challenging of this whole year for many of us and we should band together to fight the junk!  So I challenge you to be more mindful of what you put in your mouth!  I'm not avoiding sweets and treats totally, that would send me right for a binge!  But posting it on here will certainly make me think before eating!  From now on, I'm not eating it unless it's a 10!  (My night time snack pack pudding isn't going anywhere btw, it's my planned treat and I only have them about 2-3 times a week.  It's a milk serving you know!)

Here is today's eats and treats

Breakfast

Oatmeal with brown sugar and cinnamon
12 almonds
coffee (with 1/4 cup of milk and sweetener) and
a banana.
water

Morning snack

Small coffee
Cauliflower and
1.5 servings of Heluva good dip

OH YEAH!

Weigh in tonight...  Down 1.6 lbs!  Not what I was thinking I'd be down before the disaster weekend, but I'll take it!  73.8 pounds lost!

Time for another challenge!

I'm so disgusted with myself!

Since the wedding a week ago I've had a hard time sticking to plan.  This weekend When we went to the city I did ok at dinner, then ate nachos at the hockey game, a skinny peppermint mocha, a couple handfuls of popcorn, a few sips of Tom's Smirnoff Ice.  Then on Sunday, Lara and I made a cake.  I made it with egg whites, no oil, pointed it out, then proceeded to make full fat buttercream icing.  I covered the cake with the delicious buttercream icing.  I'm a sucker for cake, or any baked goods for that matter.  Then I cut myself a piece, then another piece, then another piece.  I managed to stop there and tracked it.  Then I ate dinner on top of that, not so point friendly butter chicken with rice, forgot the salad.  Oh, then I had a Lindor chocolate truffle!

This morning I had a healthy breakfast, then another helping of butter chicken, with a side of veggies, then 4 more truffles, came home with a dinner plan, started making it and proceeded to finish off the rest of the cake!  I was disgusted with myself, then thought, oh well, damage is done.

I skipped dinner because of the stomach ache from all of the sugar.  I immediately confessed my crime to my husband when he got home and he was disappointed (and I'm glad he was!) and said "Ugh right before weigh in!  What were you thinking?!".  I felt so horrible!

So I got the rest of dinner going and left my husband to finish it and feed the kiddies and I went for a walk.  I walked as fast as I could for 5km.

I did a lot of thinking about my eating habits this past couple of weeks and how in the first 4 months of doing weight watchers I was so diligent in avoiding sweets, treats and such like that.  I need to challenge myself to avoid crap like this again!  I was thinking of avoiding crap totally for the next 100 days, but that's unrealistic with Christmas, New Years, my birthday and my daughter's birthday in there.

So I'm challenging myself to disclose every treat I have on this blog.  Everyday.  So tomorrow, the start of a new week for me (my Weight Watcher's weigh in day) I'm going to write daily, even a short note, if I ate crap or not.  Hopefully it'll reset my habits again!

Please help keep me accountable!

A Happy weekend!

Sorry I've not posted in a few days, not a lot to write about I guess!

I gained 2.4 pounds this past weigh in after the wedding, not bad, I was expecting 4!  Well on the home scale I've lost all of that and more and should be looking at an awesome loss this coming weigh in!  Just look at my daily weights for the past week!  The wedding was on the 10th, WI was on Tuesday the 13th!

Yesterday we went to Toronto for the Toronto Furies Women's hockey game at the Air Canada Center!  It was a free game and my daughter Lara love Hockey, as does Daddo of course, so it wasn't much of a  stretch to decide to go!  We Brought my nephew Jordan with us as well.

We drove down and parked at the ACC and brought the stroller to carry stuff and kiddies and walked all over!  We first went to Starbucks so Lara could go to the bathroom, I got a skinny peppermint mocha and oh my gosh it was amazing!  Oh so good!!!
We went to the Hockey Hall of Fame and Tom got to wander and look at stuff, we had our picture taken with the Stanley Cup!

We had lunch/supper at Marche and I had an omelette, nothing to drink.  The kids really enjoyed the pizza there!  It was much like the tortilla pizza I made at home, Lara actually ate half the pizza!  It wasn't a small one either!

At the game, my husband lined up to get an autograph from Johnny Bower, his childhood idol and got his jersey signed!  Jordan met Wendel Clark and had 2 of his brothers hockey cards signed as a surprise.

We did get treats at the game, popcorn and nachos.  I had some of both :)  Both kids did amazingly and we had no tantrums!  Even though they didn't get to bed until after 10 O'clock!

Today we had a lazy day, stayed in jammies for a long while then Lara and I made a cake (I ate more than I should have!).  Then we did some grocery shopping before dropping the girls off at my sisters.  We then turned the stuff in the shed around so the summer stuff was packed away and the snow blower, shovels and Christmas decorations were accessible.  Then we put up the Christmas lights!

Wedding fun!

I had quite the weekend!

My friends wedding was this past weekend and I was a bridesmaid!  I was asked to be a bridesmaid a little after starting weight watchers, so for the past year or so I've been working towards losing as much weight as I can before this wedding!

My plan all along was to work towards this, then have fun this weekend, food, alcohol, cake, no tracking, and that's what I did!  I KNOW I'm going to be way up this weigh in, but I'm totally ok with that and I'll stay on plan and have a great loss next week!

I felt amazing all day on Saturday!  I felt small, energetic, kept getting compliments left right and centre, it was amazing!  And I almost outshone the bride!

I'm the 3rd from the left.  The flower girls are my little ones!
I wish I had a better picture, but this is all I've got so far!

Wedding crazy!

I'm so sorry I haven't posted yet this week!  It's been a little crazy!  We're in a wedding on Saturday and it's all consuming right now!  Between dress fittings, last minute bra searches, not to mention, in the midst of it all, I've been trying to kick up my activity a notch!  I've been doing the 30 day shred, every other day, the 5k walks or walk/runs on the alternating days.  I just need to get off my butt!

Tuesday was weigh in for me and I was down 0.4 lbs!  Not a lot, but I had an indulgent weekend.  I missed my 75 lb milestone by 0.6 lbs!  With the wedding this weekend, I'm not expecting to meet that next week, but that's ok.  I've been working up to this weekend for the last year!  And after losing 74.6 pounds and 4 dress sizes, I'm going to enjoy myself!!!

I'll certainly post pics of me in my bridesmaid's dress on Sunday!

I actually bought size 12 pants!  A few days ago, I only had the courage to try them on today!  And they fit!!!  I was so excited I went out and bought another pair in a different colour, lol!  They fit well and are super comfy!  So I might be in a size 10 before I know it (!!!!!!!!!)!

I had my husband take my measurements today.  I'm always so apprehensive about the measurements for some reason!  The last time my measurements were done was 5 months ago, lol!   I've lost 25 pounds since I took those measurements,  looks like I was successful in both departments!

I had another not so great food day again, A&W burger, fries and Root Beer for lunch!  Oh it was so good!  I went for a 4km walk when we got home though, so I'm not feeling too guilty.  I still have some weekly points left over too!

I'm not too optimistic for weigh in on Tuesday, or the next one for that matter, with my friends wedding and me planning to be off plan.  Most of my original motivation to lose weight was because of the bridesmaids dress I have to wear at this wedding, and I can say sincerely that I deserve a hard earned break next weekend!

I'm going to be totally on plan all week though so minimize the damage and have stepped up the activity.

It didn't rain today!

I took full advantage and went for a run tonight!  I started out walking, I had planned a 5k route from home and back.  My hope is to walk/run it and eventually run more than walk it!  Today I walked almost to the halfway mark when I had to pee.  I was close to my brothers place, so I went there and borrowed their bathroom, stayed long enough to sing Happy Birthday to my sisters boyfriend, decline an offer of dessert and check to see how long the route home was (just long enough to finish the 5k).  I walked back to the main road again then I ran the whole way home!  A whole 1.5 km at once!

I'm really hoping my joints will behave themselves and I can keep this up!

I had an impromptu workout this morning at the McDonald's playland!  Tom had to do a quick thing for school out of town and we wanted to go to Ikea, so we tagged along and went to McDonald's to play in the playland while we waited.  For half an hour I climbed around in that playland!  Way up to the top to go down the slides a million times, hauling two teenie kiddies all the way up because they were too small to climb up most of the platforms.  Holy man I was sweating when we were done!

We had lots of fun!

Thank goodness for the exercise!  I didn't eat very well today again :(  I'm still tracking, still within my points, but tomorrow I'm back to making better choices!

Binge or treat?

So I've been doing very well with Halloween all things considered.  My plan has been to count every treat and when my 49 extra points are gone, they're gone.  Sounds good.  Yesterday and the day before I had 2 fun size chocolate bars/m&m's.  Today I didn't bring any to work and did well food wise at work. The I came home and started making dinner.  The candy bag is on the dining table so I had a rifle through it.  While making dinner I had 6 fun size chocolate bars totalling 10 points!  I knew what I was doing with each one.  Toyed with the thought of spitting one of them out, the thought "To heck with it!"  and kept eating.  Then I felt bad, had a quick thought that of "Oh well, I'd just blown it, might as well keep binging!" followed by "No, this is part of the plan.  I've used up 18 of my WP's so far.  I haven't blown it."

It's weird how the brain works!  Yes I've had 6 chocolate bars today, but that's ok. It's halloween.  I can have more when I choose to and I don't have to feel guilty about it.  It's all part of the plan.

I think guilt has played a huge part in my weight gain over the years!  In just a few seconds my mind was playing tricks on me!

No more guilt trips self!  They don't help anyone!

Halloween Surprise!

Yesterday was halloween!  It was cold and drizzly, but we bundled up the kids and grabbed our umbrellas and went out!  We went in two stints.  One out with Lara's "boyfriend" Emmet.  He's a few months younger than her, but they're best friends!  Lara says that Emmet is going to marry her someday!  The other stint was in my sister's neighbourhood.  My nephew Nathan was Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean!  He was so cute!  I didn't get pictures over there though.

The girls had such a great time!  If we skipped a house, Zaryah would point and in her own language would say "I trick or treat that house!"  And Lara would thank the candy givers profusely and excitedly for each piece, so cute!

Emmet is the dragon, Lara is Spiderman (with pink boots so you know she's a girl) and Zaryah is the bumble bee!  They're way too cute!

I had a great Halloween surprise too!  On my home scale I'm out of the obese category!  I'm merely overweight now!  How awesome is that!

What I used to be at over 250 lbs

What I was today!

I remember looking forward imagining when I would be out of the obese category and how far away it seemed.  I can't believe I'm here already!  Only 28.2 pounds (OMG!) until I reach a normal BMI of 25!  At 145.6 lbs!  I can't wait!

So long 180's!

I had a good weigh in today!  Down 1.6!  I've been losing a pound or so for the past few weeks and needed a bigger loss!  This loss FINALLY brought me officially out of the 180's!  This is a huge milestone for me because For most of my 20's I was in the 180's.  I'd gain, try to lose weight and couldn't get below the 180's, or I'd finally get back down below, then pop back up into the 180's!

It's been a struggle for me through this decade.  Losing a little bit at a time, it took me 12 weeks to get through it.  Mentally, this decade was playing head games with me!

But I'm past it, I weighed in officially at Weight Watchers tonight at a cool 179.2!

My next goal isn't far away, 75 pounds lost is only 0.8 lbs away!
