A successful day!

Lunch today was out at a Thai restaurant with all of the allied health professionals in our family health team.  I knew I was getting the cashew chicken pad thai, that's what my nephew gets when he goes and I've tried a bite of his leftovers.  I knew I was going to portion out about a cup of the pad thai then leave the leftovers in my hubby's car so he could take them to school with him (DD#2 has a peanut allergy and thai food is cooked often with peanuts).

When I got there the lunch menu was different.  They had cashew nut chicken on the menu so I ordered that, It was served with clear soup and a spring roll.  When it came, it wasn't pad thai.  It was just cashew chicken sauce with stir fried veggies and about a half cup of white rice.  Way less food than I was imagining!

It was really good!  A little spicy, but I made it through!  There was probably about 3 ounces of chicken.  I tracked it as best as I could not knowing the nutritional value, probably over estimated it, but that's ok.  The soup was just a broth and the spring roll was awesome!

I followed it up with my favourite sub as a salad from Subway for dinner.  Sweet onion chicken teriyaki with shredded cheese and lots of veggies.  Yum!

Our office manager joined weight watchers with us last night!  We left before she did because she needed to stay back to hear about Points Plus 360.  She stopped me today to give me this.

It's a home made magnet that says 75 lbs.  Apparently I ran out quickly and the meetings leader gave this to her to give to me.  It's a funny little thing!  I haven't officially met 75 pounds lost yet at meeting, 0.8 lbs off, so it's sweet that she gave that to me, but a little weird (but our meetings leader is a little different).  I said to the office manager "I hope that's not what they're giving in place of the 75 pound medal now!  I've been chasing that thing for months!"

Tomorrow my co workers and I are going out for lunch to celebrate mine and another girls birthday.  We're going to one of my favourite restaurants in town, Shoeless Joe's.  It's a chain, but is owned by the sweetest couple and they have the best food!  It'll take a lot to not order buffalo chicken fingers and lattice fries with garlic dill sauce!  I'm planning on ordering steak and salad.  My usual.  I'm saving up for the buffet saturday night!

Yay! I did it!!!

I did 6 weeks of maintenance!  Except, that wasn't the plan.  I still have 27.2 pounds to lose.  But I did maintain my weight!  For the past 6 weeks my weight has stayed within 0.8 lbs.  I'm really getting tired of seeing 173 lbs!  Now if only I was really at goal and was maintaining, then this would have been a big thing!  Surviving maintenance at Christmas!

If I were really on maintenance I'd be really damn proud at how straight that line is!

Today I weighed in at 173.2.  I lost 0.4 pounds this week.  I don't really know how I did that after the weekend I had, but I'll take it!

So besides this weekend's birthday events, my goal is to break through the 173.0 barrier.  I do not want to see 173 pounds on the scale next week!  My next real goal is to FINALLY GET THAT BLASTED 75 POUND MEDAL!  It'll be a challenge to lose that 0.8 lbs this week, 2 lunches out with work, a buffet on my birthday Saturday (Tucker's Marketplace must be enjoyed on one's birthday!  I only do this once a year, I'm enjoying it!).  I'm going to avoid the alcohol this weekend, it seems to make me retain water like crazy!

My plan is to be super-conscious of what I'm eating all week and eat well at the restaurants.  At the buffet on Saturday I'm going to track everything, still have my fill of their yummy desserts (my favourite part) but eat sensibly.  Start with a salad, avoid filling my plate on just anything and drink lots of water.  I'm also going to save my weekly points for saturday dinner.  I should do ok.  \

Once my birthday is over I'm really going to do this.  I'm going to really hammer down and lose some weight.  I've got 27.2 pounds to go to reach my goal, about as close as I've ever been and at this rate it'll take me forever!

I don't like leaving so many extra points unused, but my stomach is just rolling tonight!  Not feeling well so not eating at bedtime :(

Walking with wine!

Yup!  That's how my weekend ended up!

We went to my brother's house Sunday afternoon after Tom got a text from my brother asking if he'd like a ride, followed by this picture.

Needless to say, the weather was nice, the kids were feeling better and we were out the door so fast!

The girls know exactly where the toys are there, so my sister in law Janette and I were able to chat over  wine glasses and dinner prep without much interruption.  We took the girls out for a walk in the woods behind their house while the guys were riding.

Wine glass in hand!

By the end of the night I'd seriously gone over points!  Using 81 points in total!  I usually eat around 30!  Not surprising unfortunately, I had a whole bottle of wine, a few dutch windmill cookies, chips and dip, lasagna and garlic bread!

We had a fantastic day with my brother and sister in law, we don't get to spend much time with them, so I've justified my over pointing and will be good this week so I can indulge on Saturday!  It's my birthday on Saturday!

I'm not anticipating a big loss at weigh in tomorrow obviously, and with my birthday this weekend, the loss will be small next week too.  But I'm not panicking, once my birthday is over the mundane will set in and I'll have a good loss.  Just biding my time, taking it one meal at a time.

I had a pretty good day today foodwise, I was hungry though and ate all I'd brought by lunch!  Thankfully I was busy this afternoon and didn't have time to get snacky!  I was super hungry by the time I got home though!

Holy jeans!

Every once in a while I take out my first pair of goal jeans (I had to lose a bit before I could get into them) and realize just how much weight I have lost!  I know it sounds ridiculous, but sometimes it seems like it never happened.  I go on my way with life and the weight drops off over time.  I forget that person I was, or I feel like I'm still her.  I'm me, and it's weird to think that I "me" could ever have fit in those jeans, or that they'd even fit into the ones I'm in currently!

So I compared them :)

The big ones are a size 18w from walmart and the small ones are a size 31 waist from Bluenotes!  I don't ever remember being smaller than a 34 waist!

Food wise I did great today.  I did not have snacks though, only because I was busy, but my meals were on plan.

I even got out for a walk today!  I put Lara in the stroller and walked my errands.  If felt good to be moving again!  I got a solid hour of brisk walking in pushing a stroller!  My hip muscles are sore from the activity, they've not been used for over 6 weeks since the accident!  My sciatic is getting better and the physio has allowed me walking privileges!  Hopefully she'll clear me for running in the next few weeks!

TGIF! And a new car!

We went back to the dealership and picked up our new car this afternoon!  Then took the girls for a nice long drive!  They just love the new car!  And so do we.  It seriously has pretty well everything we need and many things we didn't know we needed!  It's a 7 seater, leather heated seats, moon roof, the whole deal.

It has really low km and feels brand new.  It's nice to have a vehicle that feels safe to drive my girls around in!

It wasn't a great day food wise, I did ok until dinnertime, we didn't get out of the dealership until 5:30 and we were starving!  We had Wendy's (again) and I thoroughly enjoyed my bacon deluxe and fries!

I'm pretty well out of weekly points, so I'm going to have to shape up this weekend!

Recuperating and today's events

Well the kids are feeling better thank God!  We're such horrible parents!  We don't believe that every illness needs to be treated with antibiotics.  So obviously, we watched and waited for the kids to get better, and they didn't.  We took then to the doctor and she prescribes antibiotics and the kids are better in a day.  I feel so bad that we let them suffer when antibiotics could have fixed it!  I guess that's the eternal debate isn't it!  We just don't know!  I still feel bad though!

I woke up this morning after a good night sleep feeling still unwell.  So I didn't go to work again.  I'm now feeling almost better after doing nothing all day.  That being said, I'm in bed and it's 8:30 pm!  Tom and I did venture out once today.  We went to the public school where we want Lara to go and registered her!  *tear*  I can't believe she'll be going into Junior Kindergarden!!!!  I'm so not ready for this!

The office staff at the school were helpful and we felt welcomed.  The principal even came out and introduced herself to us and told us a little bit about the school.  The school had a great vibe and we left there knowing we were doing the right thing.  My family I'm sure doesn't understand why we decided not to put the girls into the Catholic school system, but we have our reasons and they will understand it in time.

While we were out we went to the car dealership where we've been negotiating a car load and signed the papers on our new (to us) car!  They worked miracles for us and we are very happy with the loan terms and the car we are getting!

It's a 2007 Kia Rondo with seriously low km, fully loaded and a bumper to bumper warranty!  Everything works in it too!  Lol!

We went to East Side Mario's for an early dinner then came home to clean out the van to trade in and get the girls ready for bed early.  We are all exhausted!

So done with sickness!

I'm just barely treading water right now!  We were up most of the night with Zaryah again and at 5 am we brought her into Emerg.  5 nights waking up with a fever, vomiting and just being miserable.  Her temp was over 39 c!  That's 102 f!  My poor little duck has a double ear infections :(  She's been dealing with this for that long, I feel so bad!  After only 2 doses of Amoxil she's a totally different kid!  You could tell she was feeling better this afternoon, she was as happy as can be, full of smiles as if she knew she was over it!

Look how much better she is!  My poor peanut!

When we got home from Emerg Lara had woken up and was hot and miserable again.  :(  So I got her right in to see the doctor.  Sinus infection!  So again, another one on antibiotics!

I'm not feeling too great myself, but I need to function for these kiddies.  I'm pretty sure I'm going to seriously drop tomorrow once the girls are really on the mend.  I just feel like I'm barely holding on!

On top of a houseful of sickness, we're trying to make some big decisions.  About where Lara will be going for Junior kindergarden in the fall, we need to register in a couple of weeks.  We want our girls to have faith in their lives and learn all about the bible, how to be a Christian, but I'm just not sure I want them learning certain things I don't agree with through one school, and the other school is public and doesn't offer anything faith based.  So we are considering finding a church and attending as a family, where the girls will be immersed in faith and Christianity, but just not as conservative and exclusive as the religion Tom and I were raised in.  Mostly my fear is the opinion of my family if I put her in a public school.  It's hard being the odd man out.  But in the end, they're my kids and I want to do what's best for them.  If I don't agree with some of the opinions they might be taught, It's my right to not send them there.

On top of that, our van needs some major repairs done and won't last long without them done, nor will it pass the emissions testing in the spring!  So, either we shell out a few thousand dollars we don't have, park the an and live with one car (not really do-able), or look into getting a car loan and finding something newer and more reliable.  Not an easy decision, we've avoided any kind of credit for a while since we climbed back up from credit problems a while ago, so it's daunting to make that leap again, however better educated we are now.

So today I've been tracking, but with everything going on, I'm not making the best of choices.  I don't know why, but when I'm sick I crave comfort food!  Why don't I become an anorexic like my kids do!  Honestly!
