First meeting of the new year

We were back at our regularly scheduled Weight Watchers meeting tonight!  Man it was great to be back after 3 weeks away!  Well I didn't meet my goal of getting that 75 pound medal, I stayed the same.  That's ok though.  I'm kind of glad I didn't get it this week.  One of the ladies there has hit 101 pounds lost!  I was happy for her to have the spotlight!  She was featured in Canadian Health and Lifestyle magazine this fall and was given a makeover. It's a fantastic article focusing on her  (and a couple of other women) makeover and she looks amazing!  Man I need to get me one of those!  A makeover I mean!

I'm looking forward to have a good week on plan and FINALLY receiving my 75 pound medal at Weight Watchers!  My weight has stayed pretty well the same over the past month.  Dec 4th I weighed 173.8 lbs and today I weighed 173.6 lbs.  Staying the same over Christmas is a big accomplishment!  But seriously!  I'm looking forward to a few good weigh in's in January!

I ate over my points today, but I was hungry!  Not really anything bad, just more that I would normally eat.

Exhausted!

I swear the girls have had their sicknesses for the winter!  That's it!  They've paid their dues!

We were up most of the night with Zaryah (21 months).  It took all night to get her to keep a dose of Advil down.  She had suck a high fever and would throw up with every sip.  She hit our bed, sheets, blankets, pillows, the floor on Daddo's and my side, both of her sleep bags, me, Daddo.  Finally I got a dose of Gravol to stay down at 6:00 am by giving it to her in little squirts.  Then I was able to get the Advil in.  On the upside, she went back to bed at 7 and I was able to get a shower so I didn't have to smell like puke at work today!  I even got compliments on how nice I looked!  Lol!

Oh the joys of being a full time mom with a full time job!

Now I'm settling down in bed with a bowl of grapes and Biggest Loser on the TV!  I'll be passing out very soon!

Add another one to my band of followers!

My hubby joined Weight Watchers Online!

I'm so proud!  He's 6'4" and 225 lbs, so he needs to lose 30 - 40 pounds.  Ish.  I don't think he needs to lose a whole lot really, but I really want him to start eating better.  And what better way to learn how to eat!

We made his lunch for tomorrow together and he was all full of questions and on top of the food scale, ready with the measuring cups, it was so cute!  He's all set for his first full day tomorrow!

He's got 50 points plus to eat everyday.  Fifty!  I had 50 points when I was 250 pounds AND breastfeeding!  Oh to be a man!  I only have 26!  Officially anyways, I adjusted that up to 29 because I'm pretty active most days.

Well I need to stop the clickety ckick, Tom has his first hospital shift as a paramedic student tomorrow! He's going to labour and delivery and he's so excited!  He has to get up at 5:00 am though so I'll be nice :)

Sick children! Again!

Look at those cheeks!

Ugh.  Nuff said.  I'm one tired Mama!

Not a whole lot of inspirational posting going on tonight, it's been one hell of a day!

You can rest assured that I was totally on plan and eating well today!  Somehow the girls managed to let me at least prepare food and eat it!  What a wondrous thing!

I made Roman Style Chicken for dinner tonight.

Still one of my favourite Food Network recipes!  I made lots so we can have some lunches this week too.

Now it's cuddle with hubby time!  My favourite thing to do!  And it's good for you!

Date night and shopping!

Sorry about the lack of post last night, but by the time we got home it was after 1 O'clock and I certainly wasn't blogging then!

Tom had a study session at school with a few other students keeners to get ahead of the herd while on Christmas break.  I tagged along and went to a Value Village around the corner.  I got a lot of nice tops, a pair of Naturalizer shoes and a great pair of jeans for $56!

The jeans are very significant.  Bluenotes has always been my favorite brand and for the longest time I was a 34 waist, 30 length.  Then I gained a bunch and couldn't fit in their jeans at all.  Last April  I finally fit back into those 34's!  Then they got too big and I settled for a few hand-me-downs and different brands from the thrift store.  Then yesterday, I found bluenotes!  My favourite fit, 30 length, and 31 waist!  I've never been a 31 waist!

And they make me look like I have a bum!

After shopping I brought the keeners pizza and I picked up a turkey sub with lots of veggies for myself, I did sneak a small piece of cheese pizza though.

We went for a drive dreaming about were we might live once Tom finds a paramedic job after he's done school, then we went to Moxie's for dinner.  I had my usual.  Spinach salad with champagne strawberries and grapefruit vinaigrette served over warm goat cheese on a flatbread.  Of course I ordered it deconstructed so I could track it better and portion out a fraction of the salad dressing that the usually smother it in.  It was amazing!

My salad was much bigger than this stock photo.

We then went and saw Les Mis!  Ah!  It was fantastic!  Hugh Jackman did an amazing job playing Jean Valjean!  I loved how they kept the score the same as the musical and didn't play with it as many movies do, it took all I had in me to not sing at the top of my lungs along with the movie!

I did have some popcorn, 3 twizzlers and 10 M&M's peanuts, but it was date night, and sort of a tradition!  Living life right?  I'm not giving up treats on date night!

Today we had an easy day.  We took my mom and the kiddies to Ikea and had lunch there.  I had a huge salad with a chicken breast with an Elderflower cupcake.  It was small, but I looked up the nutritional info (on a not really trustworthy site mind you) and it worked out to 7 points!!!  Thankfully I scraped off most of the icing!

Dinner was light, cheese and crackers with another big salad.  By the time we got back home it was nearly bedtime and Tom wasn't hungry so that was an easy, yummy dinner for me!

Tom surprised me by saying (after eating 4 pieces of fried fish and a plate of french fries that he felt like crap after eating that and was jealous of my salad.  He said he want's to join weight watchers with me!  He probably has 25-30 pounds to lose and I've been dropping hints for a while that I'd like him to be at goal with me when I get there.  I guess he figured he'd better get his butt in gear!

I'm so excited!

It's the little things

I so often don't buy things I/we need because there are just more important things that need done first.  Thankfully we have a generous family and with Christmas gift cards and generosity I've been able to buy a new comforter for my bed, new side tables, toy storage, extra memory for my Macbook and new winter boots!  Tomorrow I'll be going to Value Village for some much needed clothes shopping!  it's funny how a little shopping can make my mood bright!

We're planning Lara's 4th (OMG) birthday party and I think we've settled on a swimming party!   We took her to Chuck E Cheese today and as much as she liked it, it was too old for her.  She spent most of her tokens throwing ping pong balls into buckets.  Most of the games were too old for her, or you needed to use a lot of coins to get anywhere.   Thankfully she's easily pleased and with the mention of swimming she was all giggles and bounces!

I had a different experience at physio today.  My pelvis recovery is going well, but my sciatic nerve is still "stuck" and causing me a lot of grief.  The Physiotherapist says I have a bulging disk and that nerve recovery can be a long process.  she put me on the traction machine to open up my spine and hopefully release the nerve that's pinched.  Oddly enough, being in this torture device felt good!  The pain down my right leg disappeared while I was on it!  It did come back afterwards though...

The black harness pulled my pelvis down and the white harness pulled my ribcage up (And all my excess skin with it!)  It was super tight!  I laid there in "the rack" for 15 mins!

Tomorrow Tom and I are going on a date!  He's got some school stuff he has to do so I'll be tagging along and get to meet some of his schoolmates, then I'll take off to go shopping while he studies.  We're then going to go to Moxies for dinner the to the movies to see Les Miserables!

I did well for food today, we went to East Side Marios for lunch courtesy of Tom's Grandma ad I ordered pasta.  I ate a third of it for 7 points, had lots of salad and was able to have a good (awesome) sized serving of their garlic home loaf!  I'll probably let Tom eat the leftovers though, I don't like eating too much pasta, just seems too heavy, even though it's pointed out.  We'll see.  It might be lunch on Friday.

Looking back. And forward.

Reflecting on 2012 I'm really proud of myself.  I stuck to plan and lost 60 pounds.  SIXTY POUNDS!  In a year!  How amazing is that!  For a total of 80 pounds!  I still don't believe it sometimes!

Yes I did fight for every pound lost, but really it was easy.  I incorporate veggies and fruit in my day, lots of water and an eating routine with lots of snacks, I never let myself get hungry.  I let myself have treats when I crave them.  When I started this revolution I promised myself it would be sustainable.  I didn't want to have to eliminate anything because I knew that I would just gain the weight back when I started eating it again.  If I were to lose weight, it had to be in a fashion that I could keep on for the rest of my life.  Not a diet, a lifestyle change (pardon the cliche, but really, it does work!)  My lifestyle change is to eat right most of the time and have treats when I want them, some of the time.  There have been a few times this past year where I've had to curb the snacking, but I was able to.  And I kept my weight loss moving.

Here's a comparison pic from January 1st 2012 to January 1st 2013.  I'm not too happy with what the lighting does to my stomach, but my husband wasn't enthused with the idea of taking a thousand pics!  This pic also tells me I need some new tank tops.  All of the tanks in my current wardrobe are way too big!

I can't help but critique myself still.  Ugh!  I hope the last 20 some-odd
pounds come off my waist!

I took my measurements again today and I'm pleased!

Since       Nov 4th        Jan 1st 2012       Start

Lt arm       +0.5"             -4"                    -5"
Rt arm       -1.0"              -4.5"                -5.5"
Bust           -0.5"             -8.25"              -9.75
Waist         -1.0"             -12"                  -15.5
Hips           -1.0"             -9"                   -12.5
Lt thigh      -1.0"             -5.25"               -6.25"
Rt thigh      -0"                -4.25"               -5.25"
Lt calf        -0.25"            -2.75"              -3.25"
Rt calf        -1.0"             -3"                   -3.5"

Total          -5.25"            -53"                 -66.5"

Some of those number are just unbelievable!

The last few years I've had big milestones that make that year significant.

2008 I "met" (my best friend of 20 some odd years) my soul mate, Tom.

2009 I gave birth to our first child, Lara.
2010 Tom and I were married
2011 I gave birth to our second child, Zaryah.  I also started my revolution!
2012 I lost 60 pounds for a total of 80 pounds lost
2013 will signify a changed life!  I'll reach goal and be the person I've always wanted to be!

I have quite a few goals I want to achieve this year.  I'm so proud of myself for losing obesity and there are so many things I couldn't have done a year ago.  There's really no reason why I can't do all of these.  After all,  my motto is "I someone else did it on their own merit, so can I!"  I'm so excited for this year and all it will bring!  It's going to be fantastic!

In 2013 I'd like to...

-Lose 27.6 pounds (doesn't sound so hard ;)

-Donate 107.4 pounds of food to the local food bank when I reach my goal
-Ride a bike
-Run a 5k
-Go hiking
-Have a breast reduction
-Wear single digit clothing
-Go on a roller coaster
-Be more active, find my niche? (Once Physio clears me of course)

-Buy a new vehicle
-Track daily
-Blog daily
-Be more organized
-Climb 40 creek
-Go on a shopping spree
-Get a "professional" after photo done
-Get off all medication
-Buy a bra at Victoria's Secret

I don't know why I didn't figure this out before...  I can use the "print" button to make my tracker "copy and paste" friendly!  This is so much easier!  My snacks are lumped in there with the meals though.  I wish we could change that.
